Chiappini, Pasquale Francesco Birth #81
Greetings, I am a new member of this site, live in the USA, and don't read or speak Italian (yet)! Can someone please help me with a translation of the 1869 birth record shown in the links below? I tried to post the images here but had no luck even after reducing the file size of the images.
Page 1 (record #81 begins at bottom)

The record above is for my great-grandfather, who lived until 1967! He immigrated to the USA with his family in 1910, to include bringing my grandfather who was born in Italy in 1904. My father was born in 1929, many years before his father (my grandfather) was naturalized, so I hope to apply to become an Italian citizen. Thank You!

Thank you very kindly Livio, I really appreciate you providing me with the key details in that vital record. It's not a priority but hopefully I can get a full translation of that document in the future because I have never seen a narrative birth record like that (usually they are just forms with blanks filled in). Ciao, Eric

Welcome to the forum!
Just confirming what Livio
has already written and adding a little more detail, as you have requested.
Fossombrone: Sunday, 28 March 1869, 4 pm (Place, date and time the record was registered)
Before the official appeared Andrea Chiappini, son of Paolo (Chiappini), 30 yo, agricoltore (farmer) living in this town, who presented a baby boy who he reported was born at 11 pm on 27 March 1869 from his wife Rosa Roscini, daughter of deceased Francesco (Roscini), 28 yo, living with him, in the farmhouse? (colonica) where they lived in this town, in the Parrocchia di S. Martino del Piano in Vocabolo S. Martino owned by (di proprieta della) Prepostura, which son was given the name Pasquale Francesco.
Then it just gives the names of the witnesses to the presentaton of the baby and Andrea Chiappini's declaration.
I'm sorry but I'm not completely understanding some of the wording where the address is given ie. Vocabolo? and colonica? Maybe someone else can help with this. S. Martino del Piano appears to be a frasione of Fossombrone? or in this case it is called the parish of S. Martino del Piano?
Basically, from looking at the record, the rest of the information there looks very much like what you would find on one of the post 1874 records that are on templates? Hopefully someone might give you a verbatim translation but often they don't translate so well to English.

Re: Chiappini, Pasquale Francesco Birth #81 - Fossombrone 1869
Thank you for the additional translation details. And if anyone else has interpretive information they would like to share, please feel free to post it here because I am a newbie at Italian genealogy. Read below if you would like to see what information beyond names this record provides for me and the questions it raises.
For me detailed translations are very helpful; I am not looking to just construct a family tree with names in it. I had Pasquale's father's name but this record confirms it was Andrea (and not "Andrew" as some US records said). It does the same for his mother's name but provides the correct surname spelling I did not know about (U.S. records said Rossini not Roscini). I did not have either of my GG Grandfather's names (Paolo and Francesco) so this is fantastic new information. The bonus is it's valuable to know Paolo appears to have been alive in 1869 but Francesco had passed by that time (it may help narrow the search when I look for their vital records).
Pasquale's wife's naturalization record from the USA said they got married in Serrungarina, but in 1901. This birth record is very helpful to me because in the margin it confirms that with a specific date in 1902. Now I need to find that record. But it would it would be helpful to hear people's opinions about why there is a note in the margin of an 1869 birth record from Fossombrone which says that the same man got married 33 years later, and in Serrungarina (same province but different town). Why was this note made? Is this typical?
I agree with Angela and would be especially interested to learn more about information in the sentence where it says "...in the farmhouse? (colonica) where they lived in this town, in the Parrocchia di S. Martino del Piano in Vocabolo S. Martino owned by (di proprieta della) Prepostura..." For example, is Prepostura a surname?
Many US records (Pasquale's death record and naturalization records) gave Fossombrone as the town he was born in, but other family members (he had several Italian nephews in the USA) gave San Martino Del Piano as a place of birth or the last residence for the family. When I googled SMDP I came up with several things including the modern map in the link below, and it appears to reflect the same administrative breakdown of SMDP as part of Fossombrone that was true in 1869 (see left margin with address / postal code information in it - to include the word "FRAZIONE"). Does that word mean "fraction?"
https://www.tuttocitta.it/mappa/localit ... -del-piano
I would like to research the relationship between these types of places because USA records for this family also mention the towns Sant' Ippolito and Serrungarina [recall note about marriage above but I also need birth records from that town from between 1900 and 1910]. I would like to understand how those villages were classified in the late 1800's and early 1900's (as a "fraction" of a larger town or town unto itself) because I want know if they will have their own vital records of if they are kept by a larger town or commune. I may start a discussion about that in a different topic forum.
I have other records to post for translation so thanks to all for any help, Eric

Oh "MMOGNO" you are so very kind - and intelligent too! And along with all that, forever my good friend for all the incredible information you continue to share. The information in that link is invaluable. For example, one of my ancestors was apparently married in Serrungarina (I still have to confirm that). Her USA death certificate says born in Serrungarina (I still have to confirm that). But her own naturalization record from the 1930's says born in "Orbino DiPesaro." When I look at the web page you sent, I now understand all this much better. Good to hear. I also am being educated, and I have at least two new words, and their meanings, to add to my "repertoire"! I always like helping with translations in new towns as more often than not I come across something that I had not seen before.
