Looking for Birth Record

Post by rlongo515 »

Hi all!
I have been trying to find a birth record for my GGF for some time now to no avail. His name is Giuseppe Giglio born in Palma di Montechiaro on 8 June 1889 to mother Rosalia. All the American documents point to this. The comune has said that no records are available before 1890(questionable?) and I have not heard back from the archives of Agrigento after some time. I was hoping someone help point me in the right direction, even towards a baptismal certificate if necessary. It seems the diocese of Agrigento keeps a well recorded archive.

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum.

There are records on line at Family Search for the years covering 1866-1942, for the town of Palma di Montechiaro, as you will note on the follow link: https://www.familysearch.org/search/ima ... %3D1946817

I took a look and unfortunately couldn't see any birth records for 1889. They jumped from 1888 to 1890 - so either the records are out of order, or the LDS's were unable to film 1889, for whatever reason.

Then there are some earlier records on the follow site for years 1821-1865 here: http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.i ... one/Palma/
