Help how do I get a one in the same document?

My mother’s birth certificate says Ortmeyer. However, she was “adopted” by Rigatuso. Here’s my problem, The LA consulate wants adoption paperwork for this. My mother is still alive and we have her baptism records showing this however there was no legal court documents filed back then. The consulate is holding up my citizenship because of this yet I qualify through my Dad’s line.

My mom has gone by Rigatuso (until she married my dad and became Fortezzo) all her life and on my birth certificate it shows Rigatuso.

What is a One in the Same document that the consulate is requesting because we just spend all day at the court house and got now where. PLEASE HELP

I am trying to get the same from California. I have been on the phone with the department of vital records and unfortunately our state does not issue one in the same letters like other states do. They need this information even though you are going through your father's line? I'm challenging a 1948 case through the courts in Italy, and they do not require the birth certificate of the "spouse" line, only the marriage certificate.

You could ask the consulate if your Mom is able to write a notarized one-in-the same document stating the facts. I'm curious what you find out since I'm trying to do the same for my Grandfather.

This depends on where you live... I had a problem where my grandparents' and mother's names were anglicized at some point, and my atty in Italy wanted a one-and-the-same document. Some counties will do them for you if you can prove the person is the same. You may have to go to court to do so. Others, like Mahoning County, Ohio, will not, and you may have to go through a judge. I worked for over a year to try to get the court in Ohio to do it.

I am having my mom do that document and yes in Texas where she lives the courts said do your own and get it notarized. I agree that it shouldn’t be a problem because I am going through my father’s line.
