Mennuti of Montemilone Potenza

Post by mennuti »

Hello,

I am looking for any information possible regarding Attilio and Amedeo Mennuti of Montemilone, Potenza. I believe they were brothers or at least cousins since they were next door neighbors after moving to the USA. I believe I have exhausted all available records available in the USA. I'd like to find records of their births, marriages, names of parents or grandparents, any possible siblings they may have had, or any information regarding who they were or what they did in Italy.

I have had no luck finding Italian records.

What I know:

Attilio - born about 1874, married to Laura/Loretta (possible last name Rosa). Had 3 children in Italy, Maria (1903), Benilda (1908), & Anthony/Antonio (1911). Moved to the USA in 1917.

Amedeo - born about 1883, married to Lorenzina De Sario (presumed in Italy). Moved to USA about 1903-1906. No children born in Italy that I'm aware of.

Their father was apparently mayor of Montemilone and had a very large moustache. This may or may not be true.

Thank you Giuseppe!

Those records not being indexed led me to overlook them entirely. Although I don't speak Italian, I'm slowly but surely identifying relevant records and expanding the family tree. This is a breakthrough, thank you again!

I hope it would not be too much to ask for some information about this documents:

Birth #60 in the 1842 register. I can make out Antonio and Francesco, but is there anything here about the mother's name, or the ages of the parents?

Born on Aug 7th.
Father: Francesco Menduti (written with "nd" instead of "nn"), 28 yo, property-owner, son of ? (maybe Nicola)
Mother: Rosa Addante, 26 yo

For more info, you should search for Francesco and Rosa's marriage before 1842

Thanks again Giuseppe, you've given me the tools needed to continue my search. I will move over to the document translation forum since it appears that's where I'll need the most help.

Hello, my name is Gary. I am a mennuti and Attilio was my grandfather and Loretta Rosa was my grandmother. I think I might be able to answer a lot of question you might have. I’m not sure if anyone is still looking because this is an older post.

Sincerely,
Gary.

Hi Gary, I've done a ton of research since then and have a few hundred people mapped out. Next time you talk to my dad he can fill you in, or I can come down and show you. Maybe you can fill in some of the remaining gaps.
