Handwritten extract of atto di morte - when was the death?

Post by Cousinvinny »

The Palermo restaurazione archives recently were added to Antenati. I was pretty stoked to find a set of allegati (which for some reason they are calling processetti) for the marriage of my third great grandfather Salvadore Lazio to Giuseppa Mercurio in 1856 in Termini. It includes four extracted atti di morte:

1. Saverio Lazio, Salvadore's father
2. Casitanus/Casitano? Lazio, Salvadore's grandfather (church record which also gives his great grandparents Xavier - maybe Saverio in Latin - and Margarita Purpora)
3. Michele Mercurio, Giuseppa's father
4. Joannes/Giovanni Mercurio, Giuseppa's grandfather (church record which also gives her great grandparents Giuseppe and Dominica ?)

Anyway, my question is on the item 1, Saverio's atto di morte. It's a handwritten extract and I'm having trouble making it out:

I think maybe he died July 29 (ventinove Luglio) aged 54 but not sure of the year. I see 1840 mentioned earlier but maybe that's when the Uffiziale was appointed (but maybe the Uffiziale was appointed in 1837). I also see a reference to a record number (numero d' ordine 102) but record 102 in 1840 isn't a match (of course, maybe he didn't die in Termini).

Any help would be appreciated.
