Baptismal record in Latin. Help with first and middle name.

Post by sebaprincipi »

Hello! I'm new in the forum, but I've read many of the posts and what you do here is fantastic. I was wondering if you can help me translate a document in Latin.

I'm having trouble getting to know my Great Grand Mother's name. She appears in some records (like her marriage certificate and her son's birth) as "Giuseppa Spinaci" and in some others (like his son's marriage and death certificate) as "Annunziata Spinaci". She was born in Montelupone, Macerata and her parents were Saverio Spinaci and Elisabetta Matteucci.

I recently received a scanned copy of her baptismal record where I believe it says "Josepha Annunziata daughter of Saverio Spinaci...". Now I am not really sure which one is her first name and which one the middle one, as I've read in some places that in latin baptismal records sometimes the order was inverted. Is that true? Could you help translate the rest of the document?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe the question was too complicated. I would actually just need a little help with the handwriting, can someone help me figure out what it says? I can work out the translation later.

On Feb 13th, 1855.
Giuseppa Annunziata, daughter of Saverio Spinaci, son of deceased Domenico, and of Elisabetta Matteucci, legitimate spouses, born the day before yesterday at 3 am, was baptized by me, Canon Chaplain Vicar (I don't know if these are accurate translations) Gervasio Narcisi, according to the Rite of Holy Roman Church. Godparents were Giovanni Borgiani and Teresa Panichelli, both from this Parish. So it is.

Pippo:

What you've done here is incredible!

I was trying to figure this out word by word and obviously I was missing thr fact that there were so many abbreviations.

Grazie mille!!
