San Francisco Consulate - Dual Cit.in Italy
San Francisco Consulate - Dual Cit.in Italy
Buongiorno,
I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to obtain an appointment for Dual Citizenship, at the San Francisco Italian Consulate. They are booked two years in advance.
Does anyone have any hints as to how I can be more successful at snagging an appointment? I have tried logging in on the appointed time when cancellations and new appointments are released. I have tried logging in 10 minutes early and keep refreshing my browser.
Also...as a secondary question: Has anyone obtained their Dual Citizenship in Italy itself? I have read that there are a few organization and attorneys who offer that service. If you did go to Italy to get your Citizenship:
1. Who or what organization did you use.
2. How did the process work for you.
3. Would you recommend that avenue?
Many thanks in advance.
Mimz

Hi Mimz,
I know it's of little comfort, but in SoCal, it's much worse.
I called the Los Angeles Consulate last year to get my appointment and it's all set!...for Sept 2022, that is.
Another member here posted a couple months ago that he called for an LA Consulate appointment and his is 6 years away!!
At least we have time to get our paperwork in order!
I looked briefly in trying to use a service to get it in Italy and the cost was exorbitant! Something north of $5k and of course, no guarantees. So unless you need it in the very near term, maybe just use the consulate.
Good luck!

Hi mimz607,
Be patient and keep trying everyday. It is extremely frustrating to get an appointment. It took me a little over 3 months of trying every business day at 3 pm.I finally got an appointment for 2 years out. My appointment is in August 2019. I have been checking everyday since August 2017 for a cancelled appointment and to date, I have never seen one available.
Side note: I just read on one of these forums that someone just got an appointment at the LA Consulate and the earliest available was 8 years out.
Good luck.
Michael

Yikes! Thanks, Michael. I'll keep trying....do you know how many appointments they have daily? I read they are only open from 9am to 12:30pm. It's hard to imagine that they would have any more than 4 a day????
Good luck with your appointment in August next year!!

Hi mimz607.
The SF Consulate schedules 2 appointments per day during business days except national holidays. The appointments are only scheduled in the morning hours between 9 am - 12:30 pm.
Do you have your required documentation collected and ready yet?
Thank you. Time has been flying by quickly and August 2019 will be here soon.

Michael,
I don't have all of my documents yet. They are all "in the works" and I feel confident that I will have them within 3 months.

Sounds good Marcia,
Keep trying to get an appointment for the SF consulate and check for cancellations. Before you know it, you will have an appointment.

Thanks, Michael.
One more thing....did you log in at any particular time? Before, at or after 3pm PST?

Re: San Francisco Consulate - Dual Cit.in Italy
Marcia,
Yes, I would log in at 2:50 pm every day to make sure I was on the site. Then at 2:59 pm, I would start refreshing the web browser to see if i could capture one of the appointments. The day I got my appointment, I had access to both appointments and choose the one later in the morning.
One technique I had was to have Chrome and IE open, one on each of my two screens and refreshing both quickly with hopes of getting access to get an appointment.
The 3:00 pm, you will see the SF Consulate site starting to get sluggish to non responsive because of all the people trying to get an appointment at the same time, this is why it took me 3 months to get my appointment.
