Savotti of Amantea

Hello!

I am looking for info regarding Savotti family from Amantea. I have a copy of my great grandmother's birth record & passport. Her name was Emilia Savotti. I unfortunately cannot find any records regarding her parents. The birth record indicates she was born in 1901 to "a woman who does not consent of to be named". Does this mean that she was illegitimate? She was presented to the officer of vital records by a midwife and 2 witness, a household servant and a laborer.

She married Antonino Natoli in 1919 in Amantea and the only record I have is a note in the margin of her birth record. He emigrated to America and she joined him in 1921.

Savotti does not appear to be a popular name in Amantea.

Yes, it means her parents were not married and the father chose not to present the child and 'recognise' her as his. Her name was probably invented by the town clerk. If she was not sent to the Brefotrofio or assigned by the town to a wet nurse then she was probably returned to her natural mother for raising.

Hello I do not know who you are but if Emilia Savotti Natoli is your great grandmother then we are cousins through the Natoli family.
Antonino Natoli and my grandmother,Rosaria Natoli were first cousins. I have spoken to people in your family and am DNA matches to many. Maybe you are one of them. I haven’t been in this site in a while so sorry fir the delay. Please respond
