Profession of father

Post by rp76226 »

On the following link for record # 409, what is the profession of the father?

http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

Also, am I correct that the second page lists witnesses - Giovanni Mantia and Gaetano Puma?

You are very welcome, Ron.

My understanding is that basically a tanner is someone who makes leather from animal hides and skins. It's quite a long process and wouldn't have been the most pleasant trade.

There is some info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanning_(leather)

Someone may have some information that is more relevant to Italy in the 1800's.

Thanks again Angela. Apparently he was a "master" (maestro) at it.
