need help transcribing 1901 Atti Di Matrimonio

Post by GeneTree »

I need help transcribing my wife's grand uncle's, Domenico Di Liso, 1901 Atti Di Matrimonio to Chiara Valloscura in Citta Sant'Angelo, Pescara. Much of the Matrimonio is printed Italian but much is also written Italian. I would appreciate corrections to my preliminary transcription.

I have attached the original, my preliminary transcription, and my preliminary translation. I need help with the transcription more than the translation. If you have any suggestions for a better translation I would appreciate that but my greater need is transcription.

Thank you for your help. This site has some wonderful people who have helped me with prior Nascita and Matrimonio records. With their prior help I try my hand at preliminary transcriptions. There are still written scripts that escape my ability to read them.

I am not sure if my scan of the original is legible enough to enlarge and view. I have had trouble uploading higher resolutions to the site. Any suggestions would be helpful. There was a time I could scan the original at 600 dpi but for some reason it is too large now. I have previously asked what is the maximum size for my upload but have not received an answer as yet.

The best way is to post the link to the online document: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0

The following Italian words did not translate in Google Translate. Any suggestions?

"sui giorni di domenica trentuno [prossimo pressato]"

and "mese di Marzo e [sette corrente] mese di Aprile [andante anno]."

The Italian text in the document transcription should read:
"Il documento presentato e il certificato della pubblicazioni eseguite in questa porta della Casa Comunale nei giorni di domenica trentuno prossimo passato mese di Marzo e sette corrente mese di Aprile andante anno."

I would translate that as: The document was presented and the certificate of publication of the intentions carried out on this door of the town hall on the Sundays of the 31st of March, last month, and the 7th of the current month of April of the present year.

Lots of stuff translates awkwardly if you get too literal. "Andante anno" means the going year - the current one. "Prossimo passato" is literally next past, meaning the most recent.

I wish to thank the following for making corrections to my preliminary transcriptions and a offering a better translation for the Publishing of the Intentions. First to Livio Moreno for the lengthy transcription and to bbivona for additional corrections.

Bbivona further helped by suggesting a better translation for the Intentions mentioning the two Sundays.

I also appreciate Livio's suggestion to post the link to the online document rather than try to resize it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I hope to better recognize Italian script.
