There is no Musachia surname in Italy at the present time. There are 41 persons surnamed Moscarello with 60% in Sicily and the remainder in the north of Italy and there are 123 Musacchia surnames persons with 65% in Sicily and the remainder in the north of Italy. Peter

if you know the town of origin for your great grandfather you can also obtain records from the microfilm at the FHlibrary of the Mormon church nearest your home. But again you need the town of origin. You can obtain that info thru NARA and new Orleans entry or thru ellisisland records if he came in thru NYC. Please advise. Peter

Lets be sure. In genealogy you cannot \"think\" something is it. Go to the nearest Mormon church Family History Library and request microfilm#1412586 for New Orleans Passenger Lists Index for 1900-1952. In this microfilm you will be able to find entry information. Look for Domenico Musacchia your Greatgrandfather. At the same time, if you wish you can file form 81 with NARA for his entry record without looking for the microfilm by going to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm and look for form 81 and request the form 81 passenger arrivals record from the USA national Archives. My GGrandmother was Francesca Muscarello (I believe they changed their name from Moscarello). Her parents names were Salvatore Muscarello and Vincenza Pravata. They also lived in Independence, LA. Francesca had 4 Siblings: Epifanio (married to Maria), Carmella (married to Nicolo Franko), Stefano (married to Florence), Nicholas (Nicolo married to Grazia), and Francesca Muscarello married to James Carderella.
