Happy Halloween!

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Happy Halloween!

I'd love to hear or see some Italian Halloween traditions, stories or decorations :)

Well my son was born on halloween!.. my ex prayed he wasn't born on Halloween... but guess what... he was:)
He never ended up having a birthday party actually on his birthday, but that was OK.. he wanted to be going out with his friends scrounging for candy :) But at 9:45 am he made me the luckiest guy in the world!

Amanda,
Italy does not have a tradition for Halloween.
I'd say it's been rising in the last 10-15 years, but a lot of people say it should be discarded, as it's not our own, but something imported from the USA for commercial purposes.

Oh wow I didn't know that!! My husband's family celebrates Dia De Los Muertos, so we have traditions from his side mixed in with the traditional American Halloween. It's such a fun holiday, I love seeing the little kids dressed up and handing out candy/treats. My grandmother passed away on Halloween so I use this as a time to celebrate and remember her 😊
