Death Record of Francesco Raspante

Post by harleynut97 »

Hoping to get some help with this Death record.

-I believe the death date was March 16, 1843
-His wife was Giuseppa Morana
-I believe his father was Pasquel Raspante?
-I believe Francesco was 87 when he died

- I would like to get a translation of the mothers name
- Also I'm not sure what his occupation was.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

I believe Perriatore is another word for "stone cutter or stone breaker".

Edit to Add: You may also observe the same occupation being referred to as "Tagliapietre".

Oggetto: Alcuni miei avi siciliani (metà XIX) avevano la seguente professione:

Perriatore (Ita) = U' Pirriaturi (Siciliano) => Tagliatore, modellatore di pietre. Oggigiorno si direbbe piuttosto "spaccapietre".

This seems like a really interesting thread on tuttogenealogia forum, re old Italian occcupations. I'll take a good read through it later and take some notes.

Thanks for confirming the occupation is Perriatore, as well, and the meaning.

Angela :)
