Post by carolc »

Hello

i need some help with some info in this record. I can see the baby's name is maria but can't see the two middle names. Also any info on where they family was living and the parent's ages / profession would be a great help. Thank you.

Birth No 354: Maria Chiara Certura*** Migliarese

Registered Catanzaro on 17 August 1826, by the midwife.

Parents were Rosa Masciari, 28 yo, living in the Parish of S. Maria de Figulis, and Giacinto Migliarese, 33 yo, domestic, living in said region of S. Maria De Figulis. The baby was born on 15 August in the house that they lived and was given the name Maria Chiara Certura*** Migliarese. The baby girl was baptised in the Parish of S. Maria de Figulis on 17 August 1826.

***I'm reading Certura but I noticed that it's been translated as Certusa elsewhere so maybe another pair of eyes on this one.

Hi Angela, I agree, though I've never heard such name.

Thank you both. By the way, Giacinto is the only male relative I have seen with the profession of "domestic." Do you think this is related to his military history? Maybe on a war pension of something like that?

Re the occupation "domestico" it basically means that he worked as a "servant" so you may come across his occupation as "servitore" in other records. They basically mean the same thing. I've also seen "domestico" translated as a "footman".

I don't think it relates to his military history?
