Translation of Marriage of Pasquale Scaturro and Philippa Jacono?
Re: Translation of Marriage of Pasquale Scaturro and Philippa Jacono?
Marriage date: Apr 30th, 1758
Groom: Pasquale Scaturro, never married, son of deceased Mercurio, and Antonia Scaturro, from Bisacquino
Bride: Filippa Iacono, never married, daughter of deceased Vito, and living Francesca Scaturro, from Chiusa
It is not clear if the mentioned towns are where the spouses were born, or where their parents live (or both);
Notice that mothers' maiden surnames are not mentioned.
As to Iacono/Lo Iacono, at that time surnames did not have a stable form; they were used in records such this, or notarial deeds, but were not "written" in documents; they just depended on the use by the people, essentially, it was just necessary to mean THAT person, and not HOW his/her name was written.
For instance, my ancestors in 1700's were mentioned as Morcaldo or Morcaldi (it became Moccaldi in the 1800's); sometimes, women were Morcalda or Moccalda
