Birth record translations

Post by dpv »

I am trying to piece together my Italian ancestry from birth records, marriage records, etc. I think that a reasonable strategy would be to find the records and then try to link them to establish relationships. Thus, I will need help in translations.

I have started my search with birth records from Petina (what they have starts, apparently, in 1816). I go to the index in the back and look for the parents with the name of "Visco" and then pull the proper certificate (I have figured out the Italian months out of necessity).

I have found three records so far and would like to know what they say...especially the parts that have names of parents, grandparents, etc. (anything that would help establish relationships). Also, whatever is written vertically on the sides as well.

Thanks so much!

Don

It is recommended that you post the link to the document. In the case of the first image it is: http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0
Dob 25 April 1817
#17 Porsia Visco
Father: Domenico Visco, 42yo, miller, son of dec Antonio and deceased Nicolina Zammiello
Mother: Margherita Laina daughter of deceased Leonardo and deceased Domenica Carleo
Side note is the baptism date: 25 April 1816

On the next page (#18): http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0, there is Porsia's twin sister named Rosantonia

Other Visco are found also in 1813-1815
In particular the same couple above had a daughter named Porsia born 21 May 1813 (http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0) who died 2 March 1814 (http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0) and another one named Porsia Donata Barbara born 12 Dec 1814 (http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... ewsIndex=0) who died presumably early 1816

Thank you!

I believe you mean Porsia (and her twin) were born in 1816...correct? At least I recall and labeled it as 1816.

I have posted links to the two other documents below. I hope you or someone can decipher those. Thank you for telling me about the best practices (i.e. posting directly the link).

Basically, I am trying to find all of the Visco family members in Petina and then figure out the genealogy based on births, deaths and marriages. It is a labor of love because it is my family, but I do really appreciate the help and guidance -- especially in the translations.

Thank you,

Don
