Hello
I am new to this site and was wondering if someone could help me. In the death certificates, do they list a woman by her married name or her husband? How do I find a death certificate for 1949 in Mistretta, Messina, Italy?
Also how do I request a copy of military records from the early 1900's?
Thanks in advance for your help. Just starting on my husband's Italian family tree.
Cheryl

Re: Death Certificate Info/Military Records
It seems no one has read your message until now, you should put this kind of request in the first part of the site 'Italian Genealogy'. There are many who read and reply.
In Italy a woman retains the same surname on all documents for all her life, if necessary adding the husband's surname.

Many Italian registers are available on sites Family Search, Antenati and others, but they don't reach 1949.
You should ask a certificate or a copy of the death act ('copia integrale') to the Comune of Mistretta. They will send you a certified copy by mail to your postal address (if you need for a request of Italian citizenship). If you want only to see the act and don't need for that purpose, you may ask to take a photo of the act and send it by e-mail (hoping they'll do it).
