Post by JohnBhoy »

Help with translating my GGGG Grandfathers death cert - entry number 2

Andrea Dodero

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... at=1019419

Any info much appreciated as hopefully it will enable me to add his parents and additional info to my tree - opening up more levels to search :)

Thank you all once again,

John

Death No 2: Andrea Dodero
Registered in Sant'Antonino di Susa on 14 January 1874

Appearing were Gioanni Dodero, son of deceased Giuseppe, a contadino, 61yo, and Luigi Ferrero, son of the living Silvestro, Elementary Teacher, 25 yo, both living in this town. They reported that at 6 am, today, in this town, in his house, located in the village of Maisonetta, street number 28, Andrea Dodero, a 54 yo contadino, died. He (Andrea) was born and living in this town, the husband of the living Marianna Lombardo, daughter of the deceased Gabriele (Lombardo), and he (Andrea) was the son of the deceased Antonino (Dodero) and of the deceased Casel Cattarina Rossetto, who were both contadini, residing in this town when living.

Edit to Add: I'm thinking that the surname is a double surname - i.e. Rossetto Casel, so it should read Cattarina (usually spelt Catterina) Rossetto Casel.

Okay, I have checked both the Italian White Pages and also the indices and the surname is definitely a double one - Rossetto Casel. So there's a new name for you. :)

many thanks Angela,

I have a daughter of Andrea Dodero and Marianna Lombardo - Maria Giuseppa Carola Dodero - who then married a
Stefano Antonio Rossetto Casel and his parents were Alessio Rossetto Casel and Angela Castello.

Will probably find a link in the coming weeks that show the families are related a generation or two back.
Best regards,
John

Oh, I see. So the name isn't a new one for you then. Often, if I am unsure of a name, I take a look here on the forum to see whether it has come up before for the poster, and, for some reason I didn't after I translated this one. (I was having a fuzzy head day, I think.)

Take care.

I only recognised it when I went to update the info in my tree, I thought it was a new one until then but it had been identified from a marriage cert translated a week or two ago but this one now shows a new link between the families :D

Thank you again,

John
