PROBLEMS WITH SITE

Sorry, did not catch up on thread "Download speed" before you closed it!

Two things.

1. I have windows xp too. & have web site saved in "favorites" It's shows the address as www.italiangenealogy.tardo,co, which works most times, but somestimes I have to type in www.italiangenealogy.com to get on & sometimes that doesn't work.

2. Don't know if anyone else is having this problem besides Nuccia & me, but I have my preferences set to receive notifications, but not getting any!

Hi Joyce,

There are 3 ways to access the web site:

1. italiangenealogy.tardio.com / www.italiangenealogy.tardio.com
This is the real address which points directly to the serverm, I advise not to use this to create a link on web sites or favorites

2. italiangenealogy.com / www.italiangenealogy.com
This is an indirect way to access italiangenealogy.tardio.com I advise to use this address for web sites who want link to ItalianGenealogy.com

3. ItalGen.com / www.ItalGen.com
This too is an indirect way to access italiangenealogy.tardio.com which is handy to type because it is short but I advise not to use this to create a link to ItalianGenealogy.com

So type italgen.com in your address bar, link to www.italiangenealogy.com and if everything fails try italiangenealogy.tardio.com

Don't understand why not til Sept., but that's ok (sure there is a good reason)......will be patient til it's fixed.......can lock/close this thread if you want.

I have planned to do a major software upgrade in September but if I find a simple solution to this problem of course I will fix it earlier.

There is NO problem with the site, I am now 100% sure it works so the problem must be at your side.

Thank you for all the explainations. I have been getting my notifications again, sometimes a bit slow but they do come. I found that only if I have the thread open and am reading it then I don't get it until I go to another thread. Then it comes. I believe this is normal so I'm not concerned.

The forum is wonderful now. We all love it. Can't see what you do in September!
