Hi all,
I am trying to find my great grandfather's birth certificate in NYC - his parents came from Sicily. I have ordered it and they are currently looking, but said that as I wasn't able to find it in the index, there's a good possibility it was just never reported to civil authorities. I found some of his siblings in the record, but with incorrect spellings of parent names or incorrect info. Does anyone know what options are if you can't find a birth certificate and you're going to do a legal case in Italy? His birth certificate and marriage certificate both show his parents' names which match the documentation from Italy, it's just the darn birth certificate.
Thanks!
Thomas
Are there options if you can't find a US birth certificate?

Hi Thomas,
in a similar case I looked for the baptismal certificate and,
after finding it, I asked the Municipality again for an answer
in which it is stated that the deed of the person concerned
was not found because the documentation is incomplete, having undergone losses during the war.
However, this is the case with a birth certificate of an Italian municipality.
