Hello, everyone. My Italian is a little rusty these days and I haven't looked into Borgo a Mozzano records before today. Looking for confirmation/clarification of the following birth info (I had to use Google translate to assist me a few times):
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=2043811
I (more or less) see this:
Record No. 42
Town of Borgo a Mozzano
Date of record: Jan. 31, 1872
Before me, Felice Brunini, secretary of the town of Borgo a Mozzano, Province of Lucca, civil officer of birth, marriage and death records, delegate (?) of Mr. Cavalier, mayor...
Giovacchino Andreoni, grandfather of... (the newborn?), age 61, living in this town, section of Gioviano, farmer, son of deceased Giovanni Andreoni, who having witnessed the birth referred to below has declared to me that on January 29 at 2:00 AM and born of Fortunata, daughter of the declarant Giovacchino Andreoni and of Annunziata Benedetti, spouse of Emilio Paoli, age 35, living in Gioviano, hamlet of this town, farmer, son of Cristoforo Paoli and deceased Maria Antoni, in their home mentioned above on the Malinaccio (??? is this a street or even a smaller village?), a child of the feminine sex to which parents intend to give the name of Maria Emma.
The rest is less important, although it speaks to witnesses.
Grazie!

Re: Mary Emma Paoli
Minor translation tweaks in blue above. Regarding the residence, the wording is a little odd, but it seems to refer to the name of the home, al Molinaccio, rather than the town. That said, there is a hamlet called "al Molinaccio" in the Province of Lucca, but not really near Gioviano. Gioviano is 3 miles or so north of Borgo a Mozzano and probably 12-14 miles north of the town of Lucca. The hamlet of Al Molinaccio is 4 or 5 miles west/southwest of Lucca. Based on the fact that the birth record refers to their residence in Gioviano and the fact that the hamlet of Al Molinaccio is probably 15 miles away, I'm guessing it's not referring to the name of the hamlet.mjclayton1 wrote: 27 Sep 2020, 03:23 Hello, everyone. Re: Mary Emma Paoli
Thanks for this, bbivona. Also, the keen insight on the al Molinaccio. Much appreciated.
