Please review and help fill in the gaps.

Marriage of Nicola de Palma, 24, property owner, residing in Chiaromonte, son (of morto come costa …”) of deceased Giovanni de Palma (morto come costa…)and living Teresa Sassano, 62, widow, who gave consent to the marriage, to Angela Maria Vozzi, 16, daughter of (a minor?) Francisco Antonio Vozzi, 54, property owner, and of deceased Maria Giovanna Caprarulo.

What is “morto come costa …” ?

Thank you,

Could it be "morto come vista" - deceased as seen (recorded) in the existing acts?

Hi Darkerhorse,

It is definitely not “vista". I have been reviewing all of the marriages during that year and the next (some with very precise handwriting) and the term “morto come costa” is included when the one of the individuals is indicated as deceased using terms like fu, defunto, vendovo. I am wondering why it would be stated in addition to the other terms.

"Morto come costa dagli atti esibiti" (in modern Italian it would be "consta")=
"deceased, as it turns out from the documents that were provided"

Thank you Pippo. I’ll add that phrase to my ever expanding translation guide.

Bravo Pippo!

At least my meaning was accurate, if not the words.
