Greetings!
I found a passenger list for Antonio D'Orsi from Ravscanina, Italy. He is the correct age from his date of birth. He was traveling to Providence, RI which all lines up. The problem is I believe that it says he is going to be with his father Raffaele - then I can't read the surname. But the name is not D'Orsi. I know his father was Giacomo. He is passenger #24.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you! DeMari

Thank you so much! Can't figure out why it says his father unless I have the wrong person. I am going to try to find this Raffaele! Again thank you! DeMari

Yes, it's odd isn't it. They've obviously made an error. Anyways, I've located the full image on Family Search. Maybe someone else can take a look in case we are missing something. It is a much clearer image than your screenshot: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... 3AJF5G-966

To me it appears the word "god" may be in front of father. Perhaps this person Antonio was going to "join" was considered a godfather or family friend. The word appears faded, the same as the word "farm laborer" is faded under the "Calling or Occupation" column.
You may know this already, but there are partial (1866-1910) civil records for Raviscanina available on family search. They include nati, pubblicazione, matrimonio, morti, and cittadinanze. They may be helpful.

Great spotting, Robert!!! I think you're on to something there. I'm glad I posted the link as it is much clearer but I still somehow missed it. I'm not super-confident with passenger lists to the US - my experience with them is limited – most of my family remained in Italia. The few that did migrate mostly went to other areas of the globe.

Re: Help With A Name On A Passenger List
Thank you to all for the help! I do see god in front of father and now that makes sense that the surname was not the same as the passenger. I checked out some censuses and Acorn Street is where the D'Orsi family lived later on in their life in America.Thank you again!!!!! DeMari
