Re: Help with marriage translation
I'm having some trouble with the surname of the mother of the bride. It looks like a double name, but I don't think the second part of what I have is correct, although that's what the letters look like to me. I'd appreciate someone else taking a look.

Re: Help with marriage translation
Thank you bbivona, much appreciated as ever, I hope you and your family are keeping well and safe.
I will continue working through the certs as there were three parents alive at time of marriage so hopefully I can locate their death certs and this may provide the missing /confusing info re the brides mothers maiden name.
all the best and thanks again,
John

Re: Help with marriage translation
#19 says the living Tommaso (Brando) and Maria Cattarina Tondaro
#21 says Tommaso (Brando) and Maria Tondaro
#23 says Tommaso (Brando) and Maria Tondaro
In my original post I mistakenly thought Maria was part of a double surname, so in my translation the order of the two names is reversed. Maria Cattarina Tondaro is what it should have said. I'm not 100% certain on the surname. I'm not sure if there is another letter at the end - I think that's just a flourish on the end of the "o" at the end of Tondaro, but that could be another letter.

Re: Help with marriage translation
Thanks. I spend most of my time on Sicily/southern Italy and so rarely see surnames that end in a consonant. Interesting surname!

Re: Help with marriage translation
Thanks mmogno, looking at the marriage publications and cert, previously translated, I see her name is Maria Catterina - in this one it looks like she is the widow of Tomasso Tanda Brando but I wonder if this is an error in the cert as her husband so far as I can see was Tomasso Brando. I will try and access the records for the town she was born to see if any additional death notices are posted there.mmogno wrote: 07 Apr 2021, 21:44JohnBhoy wrote: 07 Apr 2021, 20:52 I think I have found the death cert for Caterina Tondaroc...

Re: Help with marriage translation
She was the widow of Tommaso Brando, so you may also want to look for his death records in Sant'Antonio di Susa.
