Post by anpell16 »

I would appreciate any help with translating the marriage record of Angela Libonati and Michel Arcangelo (?) from 1861 in Laurenzana. Looking for parent's names and age of Angela at marriage if possible. Thank you!!

Michele's father was Giuseppe, his mother was Angela (can't make out surname). He was 24, occupation cowherd.

Angela's father was Francesco, her mother looks to be Rosa Rafantonia..? She was 15.

Perhaps others can make out better...

Meovino, I was working on this as well. I agree with your editing. I've just added some other details:

Marriage No 41: Michelarcangelo Giosio and Angela Maria Libonati

Groom: Michelarcangelo Giosio, 24 yo, vaccaro (herdsman) born in Laurenzana, living Laurenzana, son of the deceased Giuseppe Giosio, and of Angela Stabile living in Laurenzana.

Bride: Angela Maria Libonati, 15 yo, born and living in Laurenzana, daughter of Francesco Libonati, a contadino, living in Laurenzana and of the deceased Rosantonia de Rosa.

They were married on 28 September 1861 in the parish of Laurenzana.

Edit to Add: I don't think Michelarcangelo's surname is Giosio. I think his surname is Grosso. I just need to check.

Looking at the indices, I can confirm that Michelarcangelo's surname was actually spelt "Gioscio"

Here's Michelarcangelo's birth record, which confirms the correct spelling:

Birth No 160: Michele Arcangelo Gioscio
Laurenzana: 15 July 1837

Giuseppe Gioscio, son of the deceased Michele, 38 yo, Vaccaro (herdsman), living said town, presented a male (baby) born from Angela Stabile, his wife, a 38 yo, living with him, and from himself the declarant, age, profession and residence as above. (Baby was born on 15 July 1837, in the place they lived, situated in Strada del Prato, and was baptised the same day.) He was given the name Michele Arcangelo Gioscio.
