School photo

Post by D€L »

Hi, I’m new to this site, so if I’m posting in the wrong section apologies.
I’ve attached an old school photo which includes my grandfather, Vittorio Maurilio Repetto.
1. Can anybody identify the year from the style of clothes? I’m guessing about 1899-1900, which would make my grandfather 8 or 9 years old.
2. The family moved from Ovada to Milan at some point, not sure when. Can the school location be identified by the uniform of the adults in the photo?

Many thanks
Derek

from 1904 to 1923 primary school course was made of four years, it means four class: I, II, III, IV.
The board at teacher's foot say "IV Classe", so this is the last year of primary school photo.
To me it's around 1900-1915, note the sailor dressing of some children typical of that period.

Thanks. If I assume the photo is 1900, my grandfather would have been about 8.

He likely would have graduated from class IV in the calendar year in which he turned 9 years old.
