Connecting Families Naso and Baio

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Connecting Families Naso and Baio

Post by mauimonte »

I have reached a roadblock on the potential connection between a Frank Naso (born approx 1870) and Alfonsa Naso (approx 1871-1952). I think the families are connected but cannot find a set of common parents or other connecting family members.

My mother side of the family is Baio (grandfather)-Naso (grandmother) and my aunt's family (her husband's side) is Naso (grandfather)-Zicari (grandmother)

Most of the arrival dates to the US are between 1900 and 1907 via Ellis Island. Most stayed in the New York or PA area after they arrived.

If anyone has additional info, or an Ancestry or other link. Please let me know. I was not sure if this Board was correct, so I apologize in advance if I should have posted this somewhere else.

In Montaperto, Agrigento, Sicilia, in 1867 there was an Alfonsa Naso born to (Maestro) Carlo Naso and Calogera Miceli, and in 1870 there was a Francesco Naso born to (Maestro) Carlo Naso and Giuseppa Baio. Perhaps it’s the same Carlo Naso, and Calogera died and he remarried Giuseppa, making Alfonsa and Fran half-siblings? I don’t find any birth record for an Alfonsa Naso in 1871. Death records for 1867-1871 were missing.

This family tree includes both Frank Naso and Alfonsa Naso, but I can't see the family connection. Is it yours?

From 1867 to 1870, the only births recorded for father Carlo Naso were Alfonsa (1867) and Francesco (1870). So, perhaps he remarried during that period?
