Maria Spampinato
Record date: Nov 22nd, 1866
Declarant (father): Clemente Spampinato, son of Vincenzo, 26 years old, "piperniero" (*), living in this town
Mother: Giovanna Vizzari, daughter of Giovanni, his wife
Child: Maria, born on day 20th at 8pm, in parents' home, at via Garibaldi
* "Piperno" is a volcanic rock used for streets and buildings. A piperniere was a stonecutter who worked this kind of rock.
Also, I notice that a street was entitled to Garibaldi long before his death.

Pippo, my grandfather's family lived on "Corso Garibaldi" in Valmontone. It shows up even on local catasti maps from the 1840's...PippoM wrote: 28 Jan 2022, 09:44

Uhm...it seems weird. Are you sure about such dates?MarcuccioV wrote: 28 Jan 2022, 14:52Pippo, my grandfather's family lived on "Corso Garibaldi" in Valmontone. It shows up even on local catasti maps from the 1840's...PippoM wrote: 28 Jan 2022, 09:44

In 1840 Garibaldi wasn't so well-known, and the Papal State was an enemy of his.

Re: italian birth record translation
At the moment I can't find it (perhaps I misinterpreted something). The earliest I can find it listed through my own relatives is 1882, the year of his death. But I'm sure I've seen it before that year, but trying to figure it out isn't worth the effort required...PippoM wrote: 28 Jan 2022, 20:44Uhm...it seems weird.
