Antenati Update

Post by MinnieB »

I saw the message below on the Antenati site. I've seen this a couple of times now in the past month or so. Does anyone know what they mean by the previous urls? How old? I've been on the site for about four
months now, I hope all the URLs I've collected are not going to be obsolete soon.

Notice to users
The publication of the new Portal has brought about a significant improvement in all functionalities and constitutes the prerequisite for introducing even further improvements. We are working and will continue to do so, to make “Antenati” more and more usable, efficient and complete.

In particular:

We are working on the timely recovery of all the State Archives already present.
We are investigating the possibility of restoring the functionality of the previous URLs to the new system as well, at least temporarily.
We are working to optimize the Portal infrastructure.
We are organizing seminar meetings, online and open to all users, to improve knowledge of the features and tools implemented with the new release.
In parallel we will proceed with the progressive loading of the new Archives and with all the objectives indicated in the presentation.

We are grateful for the hundreds of comments, suggestions and recommendations already received and for those to come, which will be a useful guide for our work.

As many people have learned, it's not a good idea to rely on URL's being available forever. Much better to download the images and use URL's as a temporary link to potential ancestors. The following link will explain how to download high definition images.

I do download the images, but it is my understanding that I can't upload those images to say Ancestry.com to use them as a source. So, I was planning on creating a document with the links, page number and reference number instead. What are others doing for sourcing info?
