Translating Birth Certificate

Post by deigo1 »

Could someone help with the translation of this birth certificate from Cagnano in 1838. I've never seen this style of certificate before and am surprised that it has a typed format this early on.

Giuseppe DiFlippio

From a recent wedding translation for Giuseppe, the mother should be listed as Mariantonia di Paola and Father is Pasquale.

Thank you!

February 16, 1838, commune of Cagnano, Chiara Massimini appeared, a 60 year old midwife who lives in Cagnano, who presented a male child and declared that the child was born of Pasquale di Filippo, a 37 year old laborer who lives in Cagnano, and of Mariantonia di Paolo, a 36 year old thread spinner, who lives in Cagnano. The child was born at 4 p.m. that day in the home of his parents and was given the name of Giuseppe.

The child was baptized on February 16, 1838 in the parish of San Cosimo.
