Birth of Tucidide Migliarese

Post by carolc »

I can't quite make out his full name. Can someone take a look at his record on page 26. Also I see it was annotated to add that he married in 1922 - at least that's my read - but what does that say under Montemiletto?

Finally, I have the name of his spouse. Thank you.

One final check...does that annotation mean that they married in Montemiletto or is the place of his marriage not included?

Yes, the marriage was contracted in Montemiletto, otherwise the marriage location would be in the annotation.

I don't fully understand. what is the difference between the contract of a marriage and the actual marriage. I didn't find their marriage in the 1922 index so where do I look?

Contracted refers to the marriage being documented and performed. It should still be in the Montemiletto records, even if it occurred in the bride's hometown (if different), as the banns would have to be posted in both communes.

That is good to know that banns need to be posted in both places. But since I didn't find them in the index for 1922, is it possible there was a paperwork issue or the annotation is a mistake and the marriage was in another year?

Carol, yes the annotation is is incorrect.

Marriage Pubblication No 4, Part II: Tucidide Migliarese and Ida Ballarin

Notification Received Baiano: 10 June 1922

A request was received in the town of Baiano from the town of Vicaria, Napoli, dated 8 June 1922 to publicise the marriage banns in the town.

Prospective Groom: Tucidide Migliarese, celibe (single), an insegnante (teacher), born in Montemiletto, but residing in Baiano, of adult age, the son of Giacinto Migliarese, a pensionato (retired), who resided in Montemiletto, and of the deceased Elisa Fusco, a casalinga (domestic) who resided in Montemiletto when living.

Prospective Bride: Ida Ballarin, nubile (single), a casalinga, born in Naples, residing in Baiano, of adult age, daughter of the deceased Raffaele (Baiano), impiegato (clerk), who resided in Napoli when living of Teresa Armaroli, a casalinga, residing in Napoli.

Right side column lists when the the banns were posted. They would have been married after 22 June, (likely) in Vicaria.

Angela, after reading this again, do you think that Giacinto lived in Baiano -because it says resided in Montemiletto (past tense) which could be why I never found his death record.

At the time of the marriage I believe he is a resident of Montemiletto. He may have moved at a later stage? Can you post the latest record you have that shows he is still living or one showing he is deceased. I could search some records later but would be helpful to have another date to work from..

Carol, I just went through the Montemiletto death records from 1922, as well, right through to 1945 (just incase he lived to 98  ) but I didn't see a death record there for Giacinto Migliarese. (It's fantastic that you have access to those later death records.)

From Giacinto's marriage record to Elisa, (which Marty had found for you) I notice that Giacinto was born in Grottaminarda so maybe that's another town to search. I'll take a quick look through the indices now.

Here's the 1875 marriage record, just for reference in case someone else has any thoughts:

1875 Marriage No 28: Giacinto Migliarese and Aminta Maria Elisa Fusco

Montemiletto: 27 September 1875

Groom Giacinto Migliarese, 27 yo, insegnante, born in Grottaminarda, residing in Montemiletto, son of Giuseppe Migliarese, living in Grottaminarda, and of Maria Conte, living in Grottaminarda

Bride: Aminta Maria Elisa Fusco, 22 yo, civile, born in Montemiletto, residing in said town, daughter of Donantonio Fusco and of Concetta de Regatis, both residing Montemiletto.

And his 1847 Birth Record:

Giacinto Migliarese was born in Grottaminarda on 3 October 1847.

Well no luck finding Giacinto’s death record in Grottaminarda but I did find two of his syblings, in case you don’t have their death records:

1925 Death No 68: Francesco Migliarese

1927 Death No 71: Filomena Migliarese

Death Record Giacinto Migliarese

Post by AngelaGrace56 »

I found him!!!! And he did in fact die in Baiano!!!

Death No 40: Giacinto Migliarese

Registered Baiano: 26 July 1936

It was reported that yesterday (25 July 1936), at 3.05 pm in the house in Corso Garibaldi, No 185, Giacinto Migliarese died, at the age of 88 yo (c.1848 so age fits). He was retired, residing in Baiano, born in Grottaminarda, the son of the deceased Giuseppe, who lived in Grottaminarda when living, and of the deceased Maria Conte who had also lived her life in Grottaminarda.

He must have remarried because it says that he was married with Rosa Mottola, so another record to look for. It never ends....that can be another day.

Oh my goodness, thank you. I was going to look in Baiano yesterday but then got caught up another search. I thought it odd that Tucidide's marriage bann said Giacinto resided (past tense) in Montemiletto. Yes, he was born in Grottaminarda but I never looked there for his death record since I figured he died in Montemiletto. But alas that mystery is solved. Thank you.

ooh boy another wife. Seems like many of the men remarried - someone has to take care of all those children they had. Everytime I think I'm done with a section some new piece pops up and off I go.

Thank you for taking the time to send me his sibling info. I did have that already but I appreciate the efforts you go to.

Well on to Giacinto's wife number two and all I dare to learn about her.

Carol
