I have a couple of names I'm not sure about in two death records. In both cases it's the last name of the mother of the deceased.
Giacomo Pizzitola Death Rec: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 10/wjdZ6J3 Page 9 #13
Family Search shows Giacomo's mother's last name as Milanese, but it looks more like Milazzo to me. But I'm not sure.
Anna Triolo Death Rec: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 12/Lp1Zv7o Page 122 #225 On this one the last mother's last name looks like Cosentino maybe? Ancestry is throwing me a hint on this that looks way off. Rosalia Ragusa. That isn't even close to Cosentino. I know this record is correct because the husband's name is correct.
Thanks for your help with this!

Need Help with some names
Re: Need Help with some names
I just realized I messed up about Milanese, forget that part. That was his spouse's mother's last name.

Re: Need Help with some names
I am reading Cossentino. It can be spelt either way, one s or two. I think you need to research further though, because it is possibile that those reporting the death didn't know Anna's mother's surname. There is also a tree on Family Search with an Onofrio Triolo married to a Rosalia Ragusa, so it is possible the info on Ancestry has been imported from Family Search or viceversa?MinnieB wrote: 11 Sep 2022, 04:13

Re: Need Help with some names
Following on with some added info:
1837 Marriage Record No 53 - Vincenzo Martorana and Lucia Pizzitola (daughter of Giacomo Pizzitola e Anna Triolo – both deceased)
https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 95/wOMd1lB
Relevant Allegati/Processetti (attachments) begins here:
https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali. ... 36/wRbQVW7
(Page 983 of 1217 and ends page 994)
Lucia Pizzitola was born October 1818, and I noticed on her Baptism Record that her godparents were Giuseppe and Maria Ragusa. The godparents could quite possibily have been related, or not. It could also be that whoever initially located this record, misinterpreted its contents, (it happens) and may have assumed it was saying that these people were Lucia’s maternal grandparents, and then added the name Ragusa to their tree??? It's just a thought. If you haven’t already done so, it would be worth searching for Lucia’s syblings marriage documents, and see what comes up in those.

Re: Need Help with some names
There is a whole bunch of really early church records here as well for you to search. Initially it looks like the records are locked, but click on them regardless and they should unlock. I was able to view them but haven't got the time at the moment to search. The baptism records have really good 4-year indices bunched together i.e. 1884-1887 (then the records for those years follow): https://www.familysearch.org/search/cat ... %20Library
Hopefully you can locate Anna and Giacomo's (in Latin - Jacobo) marriage record, and also their birth records which will confirm Anna's mother's maiden name.

Re: Need Help with some names
The continuing story....
Here is a Baptism Record (No 398) for an Anna Maria Triolo. It is from 1780, so it is about seven years out from what Anna Triolo’s death record estimated her year of birth to be. (Death Records are usually the least accurate of all civil records.) I did have a look at the indices for the later years but didn’t locate a baptism record there for her. I then found another tree on family search which included her, and it gave her year of birth to be 16 November 1780, no other details, and no source for the info. I’ve just searched and located the baptism record now, while I had some spare time. This is it here:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=969085
You can post it and have it translated by one of our Latin translators if you like. I’m understand that it is dated 16 November 1780 and that her parents are Onofrio Triolo and Rosalia Ragusa (interesting) and that she was given the name Anna Maria. So this could very well be your Anna Triolo, but if it was me, I would still be looking for Anna and Giacomo’s marriage record to confirm Anna’s mother’s maiden name. Everything should match.

Re: Need Help with some names
The following should confirm things:
1803 Marriage Giacomo (Jacobus) Pizzitola and Anna Maria Triolo
Groom: Giacomo Pizzitola son of deceased Giuseppe Pizzitola and living Anna Vita Milazzo.
Bride: Anna Maria Triolo, daughter of Onofrio Triolo and Rosalia Ragusa
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cat=969085
(Giacomo’s 1836 death extract, which is amongst daughter Lucia's marriage processetti, records his parents to be the deceased Giuseppe Pizzitola and the deceased Vita – her surname isn’t recorded - although the original record which you have posted does give her surname as Milazzo - so everything seems to tie up.)

Angela, thank you for all this. I've been away for a while due to work and I've been having trouble posting. I keep getting caught in the spam filter for some reason.

You are very welcome. So pleased you have seen it. Yes, I think a few people have been caught in the spam filter - the forum has been so quiet.
Best to you for the new year.
