Help with military record

I just got a large set of documents on my great-grandfather. I wanted to start by asking for help with handwriting on the first page. The bottom looks like a set of a dates and a description. From other documents, it looks like he went missing in 1917, is that the last line? Does it say which battle he was in or anything else useful?

It looks like this is a list of places he was, and dates he was there. I have 7 documents like this, and I believe they all same the same thing. Maybe someone can read something on one of the others?

The hand-writing is bad, and my Italian is just good enough to recognize a familiar word in a few places on these documents. Unfortunately, place-names, especially in Northern Italy, are all names I've never seen before.

Here is what I am understanding from the first document you have posted. It may need some tweaking as often the words and terminology used in military records have alternative meanings and so it is hard for lay people to interpret.



Giuseppe Bellomo, son of Cipriano and of Maria Schimmente, born on 30 June 1888 in Polizzi Generosa, military administrative district of Cefalu'

Chest 0,90
Hair Brown and straight
Eyes Brown (it says chestnut for colour of eyes and hair so a warm brown)
Colouring brown
Teeth – failed? I've not seen this before. He must have failed the examination? All the military records I have ever seen it says "sana" – healthy.
Profession Contadino – farmer
Unable to read and write

Conscript soldier of the 1st category classe 1888 district of Cefalu' was overseas at the time of the conscription visit and then returned. - 16 September 1915

Went to the army. - 21 November 1915

Assigned in the 75º Infantry – 30 Novenber 1915

Went in territory declared in state of war – 29 February 1916

Assigned in 148º Infantry Regiment – 29 February 1916

Left the territory declared in state of war because he was injured – 30 December 1916

Sent on leave ..... for 30 days - 2 January 1917

Declared a deserter because he didn't return from his convalescent leave – 26 February 1917

Reported as such to the tribunal of Palermo/Catania? - 27 February 1917

Great, thanks for the corrections. So he had bad teeth and was sent on extraordinary leave for 30 days. I did read guasta but was unfamiliar with the word. I must have checked google translate instead of my dictionary which I notice has bad/decayed after teeth. Live and learn!!!
