Pasquale Grandinetti’s (1894-) marriage publication shows his mother to be Maria Giovanna Grandinetti, father unknown.

Pasquale Grandinetti, age 22, presented the child per his 1894 birth record. The child’s mother is not shown in the usual place but is in the last paragraph. It also shows Maria Giovanna Grandinetti is the daughter of Pasquale Grandinetti (obviously not the same Pasquale).

I think that Maria Giovanna Grandinetti maybe is the daughter of Pasquale Grandinetti and Angela Maria Puppo. That Maria Giovanna (1871-) had a younger brother who was born at the same address as Pasquale (1894)-. That Maria Giovanna has a notation on her birth record regarding her marriage in 1922. Unfortunately the records available online stop at 1921 so I cannot be certain.
Is there anything in the birth record that would help determine if Maria Giovanna (1871-) is the correct mother of Pasquale Grandinetti (1894-)?
Does it give a relationship to her and Pasquale Grandinetti, age 22 who presented the child?
Thank you

Re: Pasquale Grandinetti (1894-) mother Maria Giovanna Grandinetti
Hi Karen
The notes at the base of the 1894 birth record are correcting an error in the record. The details of the declarant should have read “Maria Giovanna Grandinetti daughter of Pasquale” It was Maria Giovanna, the mother of the child who reported the birth of her son. If you notice the dots (......) under Pasquale’s name and the symbol that looks like an I going through the line, these alert you to the fact that there is an error and a correction at the base of the record. Hope this helps with your deliberations.
Hope all is well.

Thank you very much Angela.
I have seen that symbol before but did not know the meaning. Now I can back to my “Maybe” documents to see if they too show that symbol.

Hi Karen, I've been helping out elsewhere over the past few days and am now catching up with messages here on IG. Re the symbol - it might not always show that exact "I" symbol that is in the record posted here, nor might the record always have dots under the error. The most common way of showing an error was probably to "box" the error i.e. draw a box round the word/phrase. It would then generally have some sort of symbol next to it, or even just a little letter "a" within brackets i.e. (a). I've also seen a solo (a) written after an error (with no box or dots) with the correction written at the base of the record following the (a) or whatever sign was used to indicate an error in the record. I hope this makes sense. So basically, anything you may see, kind of out of place, next to a word or phrase, generally alerts you to there being an error and correction.
If you have any records that you are not sure about, just feel free to post them here.
Kind regards,
Angela

You stare back calmly, refusing to show any fear. Inside you desperately searched your mind for alternative options... Then, a possibility occurs. You notice several details that don't quite align with Konig and Ghost's ominous façade.khoney wrote: 06 Aug 2023, 18:35 Thank you very much Angela.
