Looking for the death record of Gabriele Fusco of Messina

Post by Amansolillo »

Hello,

I am looking for the death record of Gabriele Fusco (b. abt 1808) of Messina. Gabriele was married to Antonia Brandino. I have not yet found their marriage record, but their daughter Orsola was born in 1841 in Messina (https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 01/02aXyWj) and their daughter Letteria was born in 1844. Antonia died in 1844 (https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 71/Lmqm42X). Per her death record, she was born in Messina, so it is probable that she and Gabriele married in Messina. At some point, Orsola moved to Catona and married Francesco Igneri in 1869. Her marriage record indicates that Gabriele was deceased by that point (https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 17/wbjYZ3d, https://www.archiviodiocesanoreggiobova ... p115/view/). I am not sure when Orsola moved to Catona or if Gabriele moved with her, but a search of the Catona death index shows no indication that Gabriele died there. I have tried checking the death records of Messina from 1844-1869, but I have not found Gabriele unless I missed his name. I have not checked the ospedale records for Messina because they are far too extensive and lack indices.

Alternatively, I am also looking for Gabriele and Antonia's marriage record. I tried checking the marriage records in Messina from 1825 (accounting for inaccurate birth years) to 1841, and the neighboring towns of Messina from 1835-1841, but I have had no luck. I speculate that Gabriele or his ancestors may have connections to Ripacandida, Marsico Nuovo, and/or Trivigno in Basilicata, but a look into those towns yielded nothing.
