Can anyone help me to find birth records from Piazza Armerina circa 1909
According to Ellis Island logs my GGM came from Piazza Armerina in 1914 and I'm trying to track down her Italian records
Filippa Pescatrice - we think born July 1909
Parents are Carmello Pescatrice and Anna Rostagno (sp? Ristagno?)
I've looked though baptism records from Family Search and no hits, Birth record images are not available there. Any pointers?

Hi,
On Antenati birth records for Piazza Armerina stop in 1906 but on the decennial birth index we can see that in 1909 a Filippa Pescatrice was born. #549.
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 79/Lq3B4Am
This is the Pubblicazioni di Matrimonio between Carmelo Pescatrice and Anna Ristagno dated September 5th, 1908.
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 15/Lm3kYrB
Marriage records for 1908 are not available online but, again, the decennial index shows that they got married in that same year and their act in #180.

Hi there
Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, for some reason the birth records for Piazza Armerina currently stop at 1906. You could try a letter to the town. The correct spelling for Anna's surname seems to be Ristagno, according to the various indices I looked through.
Here is the 1908 Marriage Pubblication for Filippa Pescatrice’s parents:
Pubblication No 135: Carmelo Pescatrice and Anna Ristagno
Piazza Armerina: 5 September 1908
Appearing before the official were:
Prospective Groom: Carmelo Pescatrice, 26 yo, Sulfur Miner/Worker, residing in Piazza, son of Mariano, 63 yo villico (tenant farmer), residing in Piazza and of Filippa Gentini, industriosa (manufacturer/trader), residing in Piazza.
Prospective Bride: Anna Ristagno, 16 yo, industriosa (manufacturer/trader), residing Piazza, daughter of Giuseppe, 44 yo, farmer, residing Piazza, and of the deceased Giuseppa Azzolina, who had been an industriosa and resided in this town when living.
Both prospective spouses were born in Piazza Armerina.

Unfortunately the 1908/1909 marriage are not on line. They stop after 1889 and continue again from 1911 to 1944.
You can continue your search here: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/search- ... 20Armerina
(For years 1866-1944 with some years missing.)

Sorry, I didn't see you there until I had posted. I'm going to leave what I've typed up because I've included the translation of the Marriage Banns and I haven't time now to alter what I've typed. Looks like we have basically typed the same thing. Glad that you were able to confirm the birth record for Filippa.
Kind regards
Angela
