Need help finding my great grandfathers birth record

Post by Toto »

Hi there. I'm going to Italy this summer and I have been trying to find out my great grandpa's exact birth place. I used ancestry and found out that he came from/and was born in Caserta. But I'm trying to find exactly where if possible.

I've been trying to search Caserta birth records hoping for a listed town or address but haven't had any luck so far. Do you have any suggestions where I should start?

Name: Guiseppe Viti (I know it's usually spelled Giuseppe but all the documents I find spell it Guiseppe)
Birth Date: 3/14/1875 (March 14th, 1875) or possibly 1874 (I found an immigration document that said 1874, but one that you fill out yourself he wrote 1875, so I'm assuming it's that.)
Date of naturalization in America: Nov. 13th, 1901.

Father: Giovan Antonio Vietti, born Oct 6th, 1834.
Mother: Giovanna Maria Comaita, born Sep 15th, 1849.

Guiseppe Viti, a son of Giovan Antonio Vietti?
What documents show that Giuseppe was born in Caserta?

There is a Giuseppe Antonio Vietti, son of Gioanni Antonio Vietti (aged 40) and Giovanna Maria Comaita (aged 25), born in Druogno (province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola) on 16 June 1874.
He married Clementina Manzoni in Druogno on 4 September 1899, record no. 7, and died in Druogno on 15 September 1958.

Not sure that is the correct one, mmogno. Social security record gives his parents as Giuseppe Viti and Antonia Fera.

Appears he spent his life in Rhode Island.

Birthplace of Caserta comes from naturalization but could mean any town in the province.

1905 census indicates he had been in America 18 years since 1887 which will make this a little trickier as birth towns were not listed on manifests until roughly after 1895 for many ships.

Missed that part of the original message
Though I do wonder if two individuals are being mixed here considering the social security birth date matches the birth date provided by the original inquiry and the discussion is about someone seemingly naturalized and therefore seems unlikely to have returned to Italy. Can we get some clarification as to where the parents' names in the original message came from?
