Translating Marriage record - Sebastiano Cheli

Post by deigo1 »

Hello could someone help with the translation of my GGP x 5 from 1808 in Lizzano in Belvedere...Sebastinao Cheli with Maria Catterina Carpani. There is lot more on next page from the link as well, I'm having trouble deciphering if its just repeating itself or if both fathers were deceased?

Thank you!

There are others here far (FAR) better at this than me, but at least to start with:

Record No. 9, November 20, 1808..

Appeared Sebastiano Cheli, age 30, resident in this comune, unmarried son of deceased Filippo Cheli and of Lucia Barbara Bernardi, and...

Maria Cattarina Carpani, daughter of deceased Giovanni Antonio Carpani and Domenica Maria Giorgi.

The doc then first references the groom's birth as being April 10 1789, of the legitimate marriage in Lizzano Parish, of Filippo Cheli and of Lucia Barbara Bernardi, and then second references that Maria Cattarina Carpani was born May 16, 1788, of the legitimate marriage of Giovanni Antonio Carpani and Domenica Maria Giorgi...

These appear to be Publicazzioni type records, so the other data is also relevant (death records)...

The next doc (No. 10) appears to be a marriage record of Maria's brother, Marco Carpani, age 35. He married Maria Teresa Marcacci, age 20, daughter of Giovanni Marcacci and Giovanna Maria Biagi. Marco was born June 12, 1773, of the aforementioned parents. Maria Teresa was born October 24 ,1782 of her noted parents.

Sorry, I have to get going now, but just trying to help!

Filippo Cheli died in Lizzano Apr 8 1801

Banns (pubblicazioni) published on Ag 28 and Sep 4, 1808

Thank you both for time on translating this. This record was a gold mine of dates and names so appreciate it.

I was able to locate their publication of marriage in another book, I believe I'm reading he was 30 and she was 31, so the year of birth 1779 and 1778?

Thanks!

You are correct, Sebastiano is 30yo also in the marriage record, however his birth year is shown as 1789, I believe it is a clerk mistake.
