Help with marriage notation

Post by delfgill »

Hi everyone,

I need a second set of eyes, Page 22, Record 29:
https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/ark:/12 ... 65/Ly6BX6K

Can someone confirm if the wedding year is 1933?

Also, is it safe to assume that ‘Grott’ is short for Grottaminarda?

I looked through Grottaminarda marriages from 1931-1939 but couldn’t find a record. I also checked 1933 and 1934 for Greci and Grottolella.

Thank you.

The wedding year is probably 1933, but the last number 3 isn't well-written and doesn't look similar to the first one, so it could also be 1934, so definitely you have to check marriage records in both those years.

Thanks. I checked Grottaminarda marriages 1931 through 1939 but didn’t find a record.

The year is 1934 as we can see from the pubblicazioni di matrimonio.
The pubblicazioni di matrimonio are very important if the marriage act cannot be found and should always be consulted, if present.
They also tell us, in this case, that the marriage was celebrated in Taurasi.

And here it is.
The marriage was celebrated in the Chiesa di San Marciano on 16 December 1934 and transcribed in the civil registry the following day.
Please note that the bride’s name is Carmela and not Concetta as written on the side note of Nicola’s birth act.

Mystery solved.

:) That’s fine. Happy to help.

Also note that Carmela was born in Boston, Mass.
