blasius vs biagio

Post by lindamauer »

Hello,
I am being told that blasius equals Biagio.
i would like to confirm that as it is not close to the spelling and seems a stretch.
Thanks
Linda

I've also seen "Blasi" recorded in documents from the 1600s and 1700s for the same name.
