Marriage certificate translation

Post by deebee71 »

Hello. This site has been so helpful in the past. I have a marriage certificate that I believe is for my 3x great grandparents - Gennaro Sole and Anna Cuorvo. I did confirm they came from the Mercato area of Naples. Would someone be able to translate this certificate with other family members mentioned? I would so very much appreciate any input given.

Thank you so much in advance.

The wedding took place in the parish of Santa Caterina in Foro Magno on 9 March 1857.
Witnesses: Beniamino Fittipaldi and Mario Labate.

The solemn promise was made on 6 March 1857.
The groom was Gennaro Pasquale Salvatore Sole, a 28-year-old pipe maker from Naples, unmarried residing at 28 Strada Luniara (?), and the adult son of the late Anna Demetrio and Antonio Sole, also a pipe maker.
The bride was Anna Maria Cuorvo, also from Naples. She was 17 years old, unmarried and living at Vico Rotto al Lavinaio number 4. She was the minor daughter of Raffaele Cuorvo and Domenica Caramiello, both deceased, and the granddaughter of the late Giovanni Cuorvo.

Thank you so very much for this! But what is stated in this type of document? It is so lengthy.

I also found Anna Courvo's great grandfather's death from Dec 1816. His name is Nicola Fiorentino. This is a short document but not sure if it has any other relevant information.

I am so appreciative for all help you have given. I will raise a glass to you at dinner tonight.

The 'processetti' are the documents required for marriage and are listed on the marriage certificate.
In this case, these are the birth certificates of the two spouses; the groom's father's consent to marriage; the Family Council's consent to marriage; and the death certificate of the groom's mother. The Family Council's consent is necessary because the bride is a minor and her parents and paternal grandfather are deceased.

Gennaro Pasquale Salvatore Sole was born on 26 February 1828 to Antonio (aged 32) and Anna Demetrio (aged 28).
