My grandmother was married and divorced once before she married my grandfather. Would this cause her to lose Italian citizenship or break the jure sanguinis chain? She was born here in the U.S. I think her first husband was also born here in the U.S., he was also an Italian American.
Her father was born in Italy and I've been told he naturalized when she was in her 30's. My mom was born after 1952, so at the moment things look pretty good.
This divorce is the only thing that I think could complicate things.
What do you guys think?
Marriage and divorce
Re: Marriage and divorce
The divorce will not be a problem. You might have to get a copy of the divorce decree, however.
