BRESSAN of Castelfranco

Post by Allysonmt »

Vittorio Bressan was born April 5, 1888 in Castelfranco, Italy and died 13 Aug 1939 in San Francisco, California. Family info was that he was from Venice, so we believe the particular Castelfranco he was from is Veneto, Italy. The LDS records stop for Veneto before Vittorio's time of birth. How can we find records for the time period he was born? Where do we write to in Italy for such a thing? Many thanks!

Looking in Ellis Island is sure that it was born (or came from) Castelfranco Veneto (TV). His father name is Sante.
As italian laws birth (or wedding or death) acts cannot be ublished, so you'll find nothing about it (maybe someone could publish a list of acts, but not the acts), but you can request a full copy of the birth act to Castelfranco Veneto town hall at this email address
anagrafe@comune.castelfranco-veneto.tv.it
asking for a "copia integrale dell'atto di nascita" and the expanses you own them for it.

It would be best if you have his parents' names due to the Italian naming tradition.

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Castelfranco Veneto City Hall
Via F. M. Preti, 36
31033 Castelfranco Veneto (TV)
ITALY
Phone Number: (+39) 0423-7354; Fax: (+39) 0423-735580
Email:sindaco@comune.castelfranco-veneto.tv.it

Requests should be in Italian & include a self addressed return envelope, a copy of your photo ID & an international reply coupon. The IRC can be obtained from your main post office & coverages the return postage.
