NYC/Italian genealogy research

What are the best places to visit in NYC to trace your Italian ancestors? I don't mean necesarily the New York Public Library or Vital Records - more like fraternal organizations, church groups, historical societies, etc. Any leads from any borough much appreciated!

I have never visited this in person, but the Brooklyn Historical Society has some great online resources:

Also the NY Genealogical Society

The Italian American Museum

This museum could be interesting too:

http://www.celenzaheritage.com

dedicated to the people of Celenza Valfortore, Province of Foggia

Another good organization is POINT. Pursuing our Italian Names Together. I believe they are at http://www.point-pointers.net/home.html.
Proud to be an Italian American
