Rossi or Fusco

Post by Rossi6998 »

Hello,

I am currently doing research on both my father's side of the family (Rossi) and my mother's side of the family (Fusco).

My Great Grandfather on my father's side was Domenico Rossi from Fivizzano, Italy. He married Stella Bartoli prior to coming to the United States in 1903. Stella came to the United States with their first son Baldo (possibly Ubaldo) in 1905. They both came through Ellis Island.

My Great Grandfather on my mother's side was Gennaro (possibly spelled Jennaro) Fusco from Praiano, Italy. He came to the United States in 1908. While in the United States, he married Assunta Bozzo in 1913. They lived in New York City and owned a grocery store for many years until they moved to New Jersey and lived on a farm around the early 1950's. They both passed away in New Jersey. Both came through Ellis Island and Assunta arrived in the United States in 1912 with her mother Regina Guaraccino.

I am looking for additional information and birth certificates of the people named above, along with contact to surviving family members. I do have additional information if these names sound familiar to anyone.

If you wish to find persons who have the same surnames that are part of your family then go to www.paginebianche.it and insert the surname in the first line and the town in the third line and click cerca. if therte are any in that town a listing will appear by full name, address and telephone number.

To obtain birth records it is necessary to request same in Italian at the Ufficio di Stato Civile, Comune di Fivizzano, Postale 54013, Provincia Massa Carrara, Toscana region and the Ufficio di Stato Civile, Comune di Praiano, Postale 84010, Provincia Salerno, Campania region. Shoud you need form letters in Italian go to www.circolocalabrese.org and click on resources in the far right for the appropriate letters. Send $5.00 Euro or US or postal coupons even though the servcie is free the Mormon church people have suggested this amount and ask for a birth extract. There is another salternative which you can use for family records of all types as well is the family history library of the Mormon church nearest your home who have all the records for both towns on microfilm which you can rent for a nominal amount and research everyone going back as far as the records will permit. This is youir choice. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Peter

There are numerous members of the Rossi surnames in Fivizzano but only 11 Bartoli which prompte me to suggest that you write one generic letter to all 11 in either Italian or very simple english since english is now the second languagfe in Italy and taught in the schools and ask them for information that will establish the family lines for both Rossi and Bartoli.
