Marriage record

Post by dennish »

I noticed the excellent translation on a birth certificate in the last post. I wonder if I might get help with the document posted here:

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/sonflower1/v ... %26.view=t

It can be enlarged by clicking on "full size"

Thanks for any help

Hi.
Sorry, but I wasn't able to obtain a full size view (It doesn't appear to me to be clickable) and to read it.
The only thing I could see is the kind of this documents: banns, announcing a marriage.
Let me know if there's something me or you can do to obtain a better resolution for the file, and I'll try and translate it.
Ciao, Maurizio

Let's try this again. Sorry, the first link would not allow expansion. I think that this will work. Thanks!

Ok, here it is. I use Italic type for handwriting, and underlined type for some addictions I made to help your comprehension.
Hope this helps.
Ciao, Maurizio

In the year one-thousand nine-hundred nine , the day nine of August, at hours nine and minutes fifty (a-m.), in the City Hall
in front of me Pannerio Antonio, town councilior working as major due to an impediment of the titular, officer of the Register office of the town of Gioiosa Ionica
appeared Agostino Vincenzo Raffaele, unmarried, 31 years old, farmer, resident in Gioiosa Ionica, son of (Agostino) Nicola, .... y.o., farmer, resident in Gioiosa Ionica, son of Mazzaferro Caterina, farmer, resident in life in Gioiosa Ionica
Also appeared Prudente Maria Rosa, unmarried, 23 y.o., farmer, resident in Gioiosa Ionica, daughter of unknown, --- y.o., resident in ----. daugther of unknown, --- y.o., resident in ----
Who (i.e. the betrothed) asked me to publish the banns for the marriage they mean to celebrate in this office
and they declared me
- the groom to be born in Grotteria, the bride (to be born) in Gioiosa Ionica,
- they had since (at least) one year ago their residence in the town of Gioiosa Ionica
- not have any adoptive father nor mother
- not to be their wedding forbidden by any impediment of kinship or relationship nor by any other impediment provided by law

These declarations were confirmed, with an oath sworn in a legal way, by Oppedisano Rocco (son) of Francesco, 25 y.o., shoemaker, and by Coluccio Francesco (son) of Giuseppe, 33 y.o., butcher, both resident in this town, witnesses present to this act. After examinating all documents shown to me and signing them with my stamp, I put them attached to this register and I declare the banns to be published in this town.
The documents are: a copy of the bride’s birth act, released by this office in the same date, and a copy of the groom’s birth act and of the single condition certificate, released by Grotteria’s Register officer in date of last July 31.
This present act, after being read to all present people, has been subscribed by the groom and by the witnesses, declaring the bride to be illiterate.
