Salvatore Musco(e)

Post by KathyfromMS »

Interested in others related to Salvatore Musco. Anglicized to Muscoe. Stone cutter for Sir Christopher Wren architect of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Married an English woman with surname of Beverly. In 1600's they were in Virginia, USA. I'm his 8th great-grandaughter. Also interested in others with Musco connections.

Hi Kathy,

I just discovered that I am also descended from Salvatore Musco, but I don't have the information in front of me so I don't know how many generations down I am, but at least you and I are distant cousins.

I have done only a few hours of searching so far, but I have not been able to determine what part of Italy he came from nor anything about his parents, etc.

Hi, Cousin Wayne!
I had found an entry by "bellariver" who is also a descendant of Salvatore Muscoe and haven't heard back. She posted last Spring. I asked an Italian store owner in New Orleans about the Musco surname. He said it was Sicilian and I asked where they were from in Sicily and he replied "Catania." In my research I found that the name means "Annoying Little Fly." Isn't that great! The Muscoe surname is still carried down in Virginia through the present time as a middle name. I would really like to know where our Salvatore Muscoe came from in Italy. I have a little more info. Please contact me again.

Hi,

Yes - I'm related to the Garnett's through my grandmother, who was a Settle from Virginia. Her middle name was Garnett - Katherine Garnett Settle. Garnett was also a prominent hero in the Civil War, choosing to ride into battle at Pickett's charge on a horse to indicate his bravery in battle. There is a family Bible which is inscribed to him, although I haven't seen it myself...Nice to find others related to the great Salvatore of Sicily!!
--As I understand it, I am also related through marriage to the Beverly family.

I am also related to the Muscoe/Garnett/Beverly family. Ann Garnett (1722-1790) is the last Garnett I see, she married into the Foster family.

I noticed that Salvatore Muscoe was a descendant of Josef Mussack (born in 1599) in Germany.
