Libretto Personale - Libretto del tiro

Post by margaretanne »

I have a copy of a libretto personale (libretto del tiro), 5 Compagnia, of my Gr Uncle Domenico Ruggiero. It is from the 1888-89 time period. It seems to be a booklet about his provisions, training and pay while in the military. He was from the province of Foggia.

How do I go about obtaining his actual military records? Where do I write to in Italy to request the information? I am hoping to find more about him from the records, i.e., birthdate, birth location, etc.

Any information would be appreciated.

I gleened information from JNFL's post , "trying to help a friend". I will use it to request military records from Foggia.

I guess I answered my own question.

Well,
if you would like to request a document, you should know at least the right place of birth, at least approx. year of birth, and name of parents is appreciated.
Without these starting infos, usually it is not possible to request documents.
What is written on the document you have in your hands?
Anything can be usefull.
I can understand he was from Foggia, so his military record is kept at Foggia State Archive.
I hope it helps
bye Riccardo
