Birth marriage and death records in Faeto are avilable from 1809 to 1910 so perhasp your intial requests for documents were flawed in some way.

Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html and you can then send form letters in Italian language to Ufficio di Stato Civile in Faeto, (foggia province), Puglis Italy.

The address for the form letter can be found under MUNICIPIO at www.tuttitalia.it/puglia/6--faeto =Peter=

Yes, I did this several months ago and faxed the request with all the information I had and I never received a repsonse asking for a payment so I assumed there was no information available

Normally there is no charge and the wait time canbe anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks...If it has been several months since you heard anything then send follow-up letter to the Mayor requesting his action inyour behalf.

Go to http://www.circolocalabrese.org/resourc ... action.asp for the follow up letter in Italian. =Peter=

You might also be better off going to your nearest Family center run by the the Church of latter day saints, aka Mormons. they have mircofilm that could have a copy of the documents you are looking for. I wrote Vaglio Basilicata, where my family is from, several times and the mayor and a priest and have received nothing from them. I know the records exist because I found the copy on microfilm but no one there wishes to send a certified copy to me. So unless your looking into Dual citizenship, a look at the microfilm would be sufficient.

Have you checked their site to see if there is a Family center near your town?:
