Hello everyone, I'm trying to revive this search of the Di Genova name.
I have ordered some films for the town of Casacalenda in Molise which should help in tracing my roots to 1809 there. I am trying to find when the family came to Casacalenda and from where so that I can continue the search in that town. I'm also interested in other branches of the name so that eventually I can trace back to a common family link.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Franco

Hello, does anyone know if the towns kept a copy of the Catasti Onciari of 1742? I'm interested in the town of Casacalenda, prov. Campobasso, Molise.

Thanks, Frank

Frank,
maybe they are kept to Archivio di Stato di Campobasso. What are you really looking for? Records written before 1800 are really bad to read and understand even for us that we are italian!!!
Bye Riccardo

Hi Bella5, thanks for your reply. I know and am related to Piperni here in Ontario. Also know Di Tomaso. Both families go way back in Casacalenda.

Thanks, Frank

Hi jogenova, good to hear from you. Where in Italy did your family come from? I am tracing the Di Genova family in Casacalenda. I have gone back to about 1735. If your family is from there I have lots of info.

I see that you are a newbie to Italian Genealogy and rather than give you information in bits and pieces I prefer that you know a few basics so that we can assist you to assist yourself as it were.

Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... earch.html for knowledge of the basics and then to this website http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html should you wish to request actual documents fromItaly free of charge.

You can, of course go to www.familysearch.org for the Mormon family library and at a location near your hom and rernt out the civil records (birth, marriage and death) for the townh of origin for about $5.00 and trace your family from 1809 to 1900 which is usually the case. =Peter=
